Induce a state of balance and harmony throughout the body

Santé therapy

What is reflexology?

Reflexology works on the whole person not just a specific organ or problem with the intention being to induce a state of balance and harmony throughout the body. It is a gentle therapy where pressure is applied to the feet with the intention of encouraging healing by the release of energy (Qi) to the corresponding organ, gland or body part.

Reflexology is based on the principle of reflex points on the feet and hands which reflect the structure, organs and glands in the body. A Reflexology treatment increases the circulation of blood and oxygen to the relevant areas and the body then begins its own natural healing process . The feet have over 7000 nerve endings all of which are worked during a treatment. It is a complimentary therapy often used alone side conventional medicine but never replacing western medicine.

This form of therapy has been used for Centuries in many cultures for its health benefits and general well being. Reflexology is a wonderful therapy which is normally done on the feet but can also be done on the hands

Infertility and IVF can be extremely stressful for the couple involved. Reflexology can help with relaxation which in itself can help the couple through this difficult time.

A full reflexology treatment is given but additional work is done on the reflexes for the ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes and the endocrine system which controls hormones.

Steps involved in a
reflexology treatment

Reflexology is suitable for all ages from babies to senior citizens. Everyone can benefit from a treatment. It is generally recommended to have between 4 to 6 treatment as it takes this number of treatments for the body to fully detox as most illnesses have take time to manifest in the body.

A treatment normally takes 1 hour with the first 5-10 minutes used to discuss your reason for the treatment and specific health concerns or issues. The remainder of the time is hands on with the therapist working directly on your feet.

You will be required to remove only your socks and shoes, then seat yourself comfortably in a reflexology chair which raises the feet so the therapist can work at a better angle. The therapist will check the pressure you are comfortable with on the feet. The pressure should never be painful.

The first step is to help you relax with a gentle relaxation routine done on each foot.

A treatment is then done on each foot with or without an oil depending on the condition of the feet and your preference. Depending on the reason for treatment or your specific health concerns, various reflexes are reworked to address these issues more specifically. Following the treatment, any finding will be discussed with you.

Treatments for the elderly, seriously ill or children can be shortened depending on the situation.
